The simple answer is YES

The term blogging would until not so long ago have done more than raise a few eyebrows, most people would have imagined it was some strange phenomenon or even worse a medical procedure. These days however anyone with an internet connection not only knows what your talking about but probably reads one or more blogs on a regular basis.

So why this interest in what other people are doing or saying well it goes back to the basic human instinct of curiosity, in the good old days people used to stand either side of the garden fence and tell one another what was happening in their lives etc, but now with modern technology we no longer need to just tell one person we can tell millions and believe me if your interesting enough they will tune in on a regular basis to hear what you have to say.

So why write a blog well one it can be fun and a great outlet when you have had a bad day at work to sound off about it or to tell the world that the dreaded in-laws are arriving this weekend and ask for ideas on how to make sure they don’t outstay their welcome etc.

But these days a lot of people are running blogs for commercial purposes i.e. to earn money, so how do you do this well thankfully this is something that has really caught on and there are literally limitless ideas on how you can ‘Monetize your Blog’ from advertising to referrals to product sales etc.

There a sites which allow sellers to contact people and offer them commission to sell their products (affiliate marketing) to sites which allow you to set up contracts with people for advertising space on your blog to the easy options like pay per click advertising.

I would say first and foremost though that don’t lose sight of why you started your blog in the first place. The thing that will keep people coming back time and time again is content so without it all the Monetizing in the world wont make you any money because you have no traffic.
